as the director's Homeric epic clears $115 million in a single weekend
HOLLYWOOD, July 19 — Odysseus is home, and he's rich. Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' topped the domestic box office this weekend, blowing past $115 million. Bettors had pegged that outcome at 58 percent before opening day. They cashed in.
The doubters lost. Traders had crowded into the $105-to-$115-million range at roughly two-in-five odds. The film crushed it. Lower brackets barely drew a bet.
