PARIS, Oct. 31 — Harry Kane won the 2026 Ballon d'Or, an outcome traders had priced at 37 per cent. He edged Lamine Yamal, whose surge peaked one goal short.
Kane spent a career chasing the biggest nights and finally caught one. The wires had him and Yamal separated by hundredths on the eve of the vote, the closest field in years.
Yamal, 19, drew the momentum; Kane drew the ballots. Messi and Mbappé faded to the margins. England, so long the country of near-misses, put a name on the sport's oldest prize.
